Thinking about participating in a clinical trial but unsure what the process looks like? You're not alone. Many people are curious about clinical research but hesitant because they don't know what to expect. Here's a plain-language walkthrough of the entire process — from your first inquiry to your final visit.

Step 1: Browse and Inquire

The first step is simply finding a trial that might be right for you. At DMV Clinical Trials, you can browse our current studies on our website, filtering by medical specialty or condition. Each trial listing includes a description, key eligibility criteria, and information about compensation and time commitment.

Once you find a study that interests you, you can submit an inquiry form online or call us directly at (347) 552-0139. No referral from a doctor is required.

Step 2: Phone Pre-Screening

Within 1–2 business days, a member of our research team will call you to conduct a brief pre-screening. This is a short conversation — usually 10–15 minutes — to confirm that you meet the basic eligibility requirements for the study. There's no obligation at this stage.

Step 3: Informed Consent

If the pre-screening goes well, you'll be invited to an in-person visit at our facility. This is where we explain the study in full detail — what it involves, what the potential risks and benefits are, how your data will be protected, and what your rights are as a participant.

You'll receive a written informed consent form to review. You can take it home, discuss it with family or your doctor, and ask as many questions as you need. There is absolutely no pressure to sign immediately or to participate at all.

Step 4: Screening Visit

After you sign the consent form, we'll conduct a medical screening to confirm your eligibility. This may include a physical examination, blood tests, an ECG, or other assessments specific to the study. Our medical team will review the results with you.

Step 5: Study Visits

If you're enrolled, you'll attend scheduled study visits at our facility. The frequency and duration of visits vary by study — this information is always clearly stated in the consent form. During visits, you may receive the study treatment, provide samples, complete questionnaires, or undergo assessments.

Our team is available to answer questions between visits, and you can withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.

Step 6: Completion

After your final study visit, you'll receive any remaining compensation and a summary of your participation. Some studies include a follow-up period after the main study ends, which will be explained in advance.

Participating in a clinical trial is a meaningful contribution to medical science. We are committed to making the experience as comfortable, transparent, and respectful as possible.
